Each subject uses a weighted composite percentage and site-defined illustrative bands. Select the format
of your practice paper: 2027 is the default, with the 2026 format also available.
Formula
MCQ percent is multiplied by the subject MCQ weight. FRQ percent uses the remaining weight. The result is
rounded once to a whole composite percentage before the band is applied. APUSH written sections are weighted separately: SAQ 20%, DBQ 25%, LEQ 15%.
Official Scores
College Board score setting and equating can change real cut scores by exam form and year. Treat the
calculator as practice guidance only. College Board says 2026 AP scores have been available since July 6.
Data Status

Where do these score bands come from?
These site-defined bands have no published exam-form conversion or validation dataset behind them. They are retained across both years for practice comparisons, not calibrated predictions of either exam. Official score distributions are historical context, not the source of these cutoffs.
The numbers below are the site's existing planning assumptions. We have not located an attributable historical score sheet or a validation study that justifies their exact values, and we do not claim to have fitted them to student results. Keeping them identical across years makes the effect of a changed format visible; it does not establish that the true cutoffs stayed the same.
Use a practice paper's own conversion table when one is supplied. If it disagrees with this site, use that table for that paper. Published score distributions say how a cohort performed; they do not reveal the raw scores needed for each band.
Rounding and cutoff sensitivity
We round the weighted total to the nearest integer, with .5 rounding upward, before comparing bands. For example, an unrounded 56.5 becomes 57; under the illustrative Calculus AB bands this reaches band 4. This is our calculation convention, not a statement about College Board's operational rounding.
A cutoff distance of one point means the rounded result is one composite percentage point from a threshold in this table. It is not a confidence interval. Target plans minimize mathematical raw-point gains; earning each kind of point can require different effort.
Source Notes
2027 exam formats and dates were checked against College Board on September 8, 2026. The year selector also preserves the site's 2026 format. Section weights follow published formats; the score bands are illustrative assumptions. Real cut scores vary by exam form and year.
The 2026 distribution figures were checked on 2026-08-03. They remain labeled as historical context when using the 2027 format.
